The Architecture

How the mycelial pipeline works:

  • GPU 0 (The Ear): Whisper.cpp (large-v3) transcribes Kreyòl audio locally. No cloud. No recording leaves the room.
  • GPU 1 (The Translator): A fine-tuned Llama-3-8B model translates while preserving names, legal terms, and cultural markers.
  • The Sovereignty Firewall: Only anonymized patterns — never raw transcripts — are sent to cloud models for synthesis when necessary.

Ethical Note

This pilot uses a fictionalized transcript. The actual Haiti Collective's oral histories are processed locally on the Altar, with full consent, and the raw data never leaves their community. We do not share real transcripts. We share the method — so others can build their own sovereign pipelines.

Why This Matters

The cloud model optimized for fluency. It assumed the goal was to make the text easily consumable by an English-speaking reader. The mycelial model optimized for fidelity. It assumed the goal was to preserve what the community would recognize as their own.

The difference isn't technical. It's theological.
